Abstract
Holy Basil (Ocimum sanctum, Tulsi) is an aromatic perennial used extensively in Ayurvedic medicine for stress, immune support, and respiratory function. Active constituents include ursolic acid, eugenol, rosmarinic acid, and apigenin. Pharmacology includes HPA axis modulation, anti-inflammatory effects through NF-kB inhibition, and antioxidant activity. Clinical evidence in human stress and metabolic endpoints is modest.
