Cold-chain logistics.
How Kodiac biolabs gets a research-grade peptide from the lab to your bench without the cold chain breaking.
Why we ship cold
Lyophilized peptides are stable at room temperature for several days, which is the basis on which most research suppliers ship them. Kodiac biolabs ships cold anyway. Two reasons: investigators receive the product in the same condition the lab assayed it, and any cold-chain integrity question (a coolant pack that arrives melted, a package delayed in transit) becomes documentable rather than speculative.
What goes in the box
Each shipment includes the ordered vials, a printed COA card listing the assigned lot ID and the URL of the lot's archived COA documentation, a coolant pack rated for 72 hours of insulated transit, and packing instructions for storage upon receipt. Vials are individually labeled with compound, dose per vial, lot ID, and reconstitution direction.
Carrier selection
UPS Ground covers East, Midwest, and South US destinations within 2 to 3 business days. FedEx Express covers Mountain and West regions on the same window. Alaska and Hawaii ship FedEx Priority Overnight to keep transit under the cold-chain integrity window. We do not ship via USPS for cold-chain orders.
Tracking
A tracking number is added to your order timeline within 4 hours of carrier handoff. The customer-facing order page renders the tracking number, carrier name, and a deep link to the carrier's tracking interface. Carrier scans are mirrored into the timeline so the cold-chain integrity log is part of the order record.
If a package is delayed or damaged
If your package is delayed in transit beyond 4 days or arrives with the coolant pack fully melted, contact support@kodiac.org within 24 hours of delivery. Cold-chain damage is grounds for full replacement at our cost. Document the issue with a photograph of the package contents on receipt; this is sufficient for replacement authorization.
International shipping
Domestic US only at this time. International shipping introduces customs review, cold-chain handoff complexity, and regulatory variation that we do not currently support. We expect to add Canadian shipping in a later phase.
